Mexican near St Pancras

We're meeting up with E&J to celebrate J's birthday, starting off at the Searcy's champagne bar at St Pancras station, sitting alongside the Eurostar. When we arrive it's fairly quiet, but gradually the place does fill up. The Pol Roger is slipping down nicely, and the bread basket is very fresh and good. E's sister S arrives to join us. 

The staff overheard us talking about the birthday, so arrive with a plate of chocolate truffles, with "Happy birthday" piped in chocolate (even though his birthday isn't until a few days later). 

After drinks, S heads off and the four of us cross the road to Decimo. The restaurant is up on the 10th floor, with lovely views across to the grand old station. We are given a large table in the corner with views in two directions. 

J decides he'd like the Whispering Angel rose, but the lavishly dressed waiter talks him into a Château Minuty at £85 - very pale and light. The waiter then talks us through the menu. It's quite limited, with a range of small plates, and a few larger ones. J orders about half a dozen small dishes for himself and E; we decide to focus on the mains.

We do order a couple of small dishes too: tuna tostada and gilda. The rare tuna is good, but the tostada crisp is pretty small. Gilda turns out to be an olive on a cocktail stick with a curl of green chilli and an anchovy. We also sample some of their red peppers (quite spicy) on bread.

Our mains are king prawns and iberico pork chop. The three prawns are large, grilled over an open flame, with a good chilli sauce. The pork was a good meaty piece served with a Morita salsa - a rich, brown sauce made with smoked red jalapenos, tomato and garlic. We also have some marinated tomatoes, the only thing not spicy.

J orders another bottle of wine - Sancerre at £86. Service has been fine, perhaps overly friendly; background music subdued, and tables well-spaced. Overall a good experience. We end with espresso martinis (E has an ice cream)

I didn't see the bill, but working it out from the website with 12.5% service it will have been around £230 for the two of us. Ordering cheaper wines could have knocked £30 off that, but I can't see us rushing back.
